Behind the Scenes: 'Cards'
This image was part of a series called "GamBLING", which was a conceptual take on various types of gambling and its excesses, appeals etc. This one's 'Blackjack'. The idea was to make her look as if she were overwhelmed by a sea of playing cards, in an attempted reference to the potentially life wrecking gambling addictions.

Batu, being a magician of style when it comes to arranging things, managed to give the appearance I was after using only the 3 decks that we had.
Lighting: Two shoot through white brollies camera top-left and top-right, very slightly raised with respect to the model. Goldish reflector camera bottom mainly for symettrical catchlights in the eyes. Fill with ring flash.

Carla Bruni by Michael Comte (1993)

Here it is, the 'naked first lady of France' as she's been called all over the Brit press. In about a week's time, Christie's of New York are auctioning off a 1993 photograph of Carla Bruni with an estimate of $4000. Well, the one they've got listed there is a 32.5 x 22.5cm gelatin silver print.
Now this is interesting, because I've now got (see left, still with it's protective layer on) a 60 x 60cm Lambda print, which is an edition of 150.
UPDATE: Yey! The Christie's one sold for US$91,000.
